Project Management Distinct
Phases
Processes for implemetation are designed to ensure the customer get what
they expect, a fully installed and commissioned system, at the right price.
These phases are useful as an example guidline in ensuring the overall
quality of the technical side of any project. There are many variants to
implemetation of projects, each individual to the type of project. (e.g.
design/build vs. design/bid/build).
Project Programming & Design
Developement (DD)
Design Narrative
A during project programing we use a consensitive approach by asking questions
and listening to our clients. Through plain language dialog, we define
the desired functional objective. We translate these objectives into technical
systems through a define and refinement process. As a feedback mechamism,
we develope a design narrative to ensure that you understand that we know
what you want.
Equipment
Selection
After initial consultations, we develope a complete list of equipment
for the facility. This list is then refined with the help of the client
and circulated to all involved in the project. Rough Order of Magnitude
(ROM) pricing figures are calculated for inclusion in initial project
budgets.
Architectural Infrastructure
Design
Specification of the physical infrastructure is necessary to coordinate
with building construction schedules. Pipes and boxes for wiring runs,
panels and cabling for the technical equipment, is determined to calculate
accurate costs for the full wiring and installation of the project.
Budgeting Phase
An accurate budget for the technical side of the project can now be completed.
This includes equipment costs and wiring and installation costs. During
this phase the actual equipment selections may be changed to match budgetary
goals.
Construction Documentation
(CD)
Specifications
& Performace Criteria
The system design is translated into a documaentation package that defines
the project performance on a detailed level.A performace criteria is used
to ensure that industry standard methods are and quality fulfilled. A
Scope of Work (SOW) is delevoped to define the actual technical system
requirements.
CAD Drawing Production
Representative floor plan and /or technical system drawings are developed
to be included in the Construction Documents.
Bid Documents
The CD's are used to generate RFP or ITB documents, unless the project
is Design/Build. Bir responses are evaluated and seletion of vendors is
performed.
Construction
Administration (CA)
Equipment Purchase
Once budgets have been approved, equipment is ordered. Delivery is managed
to coincide with completion of construction. Some equipment can be ordered
close to the completion date, other items with long lead times are ordered
months prior to the completion date. During this process we will ensure
that the latest and most cost effective versions of the equipment are
purchased. This is especially important with items such as computers which
are subject to constant technological advances.
Wiring and Equipment
Installation
Once the wiring and installation budget has been approved, the system
wiring is started with exact design documentation on all aspects of cabling
and interface panels. Most of the wiring can be prefabricated off-site
ready for installation at the optimum time in the project's schedule.
Facility Commissioning
Once all the equipment has been delivered and the wiring is complete the
entire installation will be commissioned to ensure all systems are fully
operational. We will manage this phase of the project together with representatives
from the equipment manufacturers where needed. Training of facility staff
may also be included in this phase
First Use &
Staff Training
After commissioning, first use training is performed with contigious stand
by support. Subsequest staff training for operation and remedial maintenance
is also performed.
